Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi,
i'm trying to convert audio samples from songs I made with the MPC2000XL from the Akai .SND format into .WAV. I'm using the "wavsnd" converter for that.

Samples like Snares, Kickdrums etc are converted correctly.
But when i convert samples that i originally recorded with the MPC (sound bits from an analog synth)
the converted wav file (44100hz) plays in double speed. Only when i convert it to 22050hz it sounds normal.

Am I doing something wrong, or did the MPC actually record these samples in 22050hz?
I can't find any settings for that on the MPC.

What is the default sample rate when recording samples?

The same actually happens when i import the .snd file as raw data into a music software and set it to 16bit, 44100hz. It only sounds normal when I import it in 22050hz. :|

Strange is just that the drum and snares etc sound normal, when i import them in 44100hz. Not sure where I got the samples from, but there might be a difference to my own recorded synth samples.

I had another look on the different samples inside the MPC.
Under 'trim' and 'open window' on the sample name, it shows 44100hz for both.
(those that play normal and those that play too fast after converting to wav)
Weird...

edit... problem solved!
discovered that in the MPC i can actually export .wav files instead of .snd.
those exported wav's play correct on the computer. :smoker:

not that this is necessarily your problem, but if you ever come across sound files that play half-speed, it could be an encoding/decoding error where the playback is misinterpreting a stereo file as a mono file.
some of you folks having trouble with raw import could try mono/stereo to see if that fixes anything.

But hold up a second here, you do know you have the option to save/resave your samples as WAV files in the save menu right?
