Use jumper wires as SD card/Zip drive power cable?

Hey guys, I just bought an IDE to SD card adapter for my 2000XL. I hooked it up and it's all working fine but the original floppy power cable is too short. I definitely need a longer one but I'm just unable to find the same cable nearby.
I thought maybe I could use jumper wires, the same we use in PC motherboards to connect with the chassis.

What do you think guys? Is it safe to use?

Just about any wire will do, as long as it's insulated. Just extend the wire with whatever you have by splicing them and using electrical tape to insulate where you spliced.
