Well I just did a quick test yesterday. I created an extra FAT partition on my sd card with Mini Tools Partition Wizard but 1.2 OS did not recognized it. Do you think 1.14 would see it? I just looked around and read some wierd things that not all ATAPI device recognized by 1.14.

Creating a second based FAT partition is not the same as Akai's proprietary format, which is what is used on 1.14. That is why you are unable to see the second partition sir.

1.2 did away with the Akai proprietary format (it can still read earlier Akai formatted based partitions but cannot create them). Not all ATAPI devices are recognized on 1.14 which is the purpose of me asking if the card reader you do have does work on 1.14.

Yeah I see. Well it sounds a bit risky. If it does not recignize it I have no chance to go back to 1.2. I have a scsi HDD though but unfortunately I cannot connect it to none of my computers.

I understand man, thanks anyway. I guess I'll have to order the same drive myself to find out.

What if I copy the current OS to my SCSI HDD? Can I boot from there if 1.14 not working?

On an MPC2000XL you don't need a Boot OS. On an MPC2000, the OS has to be a stand alone file on a floppy, Zip, Jaz Disk or Hard drive since its' the first thing to boot up when powered on.

@Martin basically, all you'd need to do is have the 1.20 OS copied to the SCSI drive.

The exe and the sys file in the root folder. So if some how the card reader does not work with 1.14, you can goto load, choose the SCSI id associated with the SCSI hd and then load it back to 1.20. If by chance you're not comfortable with doing this, then don't worry about it man. I'll order the card reader soon enough and post results if anything.
