Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey everyone I can't figure out how to track out my beats can someone please help me. I have a MIDI to USB interface and an MPC 2000 xl. I do not know if I need anything else besides my MIDI to USB, MPC, and computer with Logic Pro.

Here is how I thought it worked
1) Open Logic and use external MIDI output
2) Put input MIDI cable of USB interface to Output of MPC
3) Sync Out my MPC to Out A and use MIDI Clock with MMC on or MIDI Time Code with a frame rate of 24 or 25 and MMC On
4) Press record on logic and my beat will start playing in logic

If someone can please explain to me what I am doing wrong and tell me if I need anything else such as an audio interface. I know that MIDI doesn't produce audio I just have no idea how to produce audio from my MPC into logic. I am really struggling to figure this out and no youtube tutorial explains exactly how to export a beat or found a forum question that has answered my question.

If someone would please answer this question it would really help me out. I have been trying to figure this out for two days. Once again thank you

yes midi is not audio. yes you need an audio interface. then you plug any of the audio outputs of the mpc into the audio inputs of the interface, hit record in logic, and play in the mpc.

everything else is just setting your inputs right. you dont need anything midi to do this - it can be added to give you more flexibility later, but it is not necessary to record the beats into logic.
