As far as I know connecting random SCSI drives is a bit of trial and error. If you don't want to go down that road, probably better to search for a drive that is advertised as compatible with 2KXL, like: http://www.ebay.com/itm/18GB-18-GB-Inte ... 1958838454

That would also save any hassle with getting the right (80-to-50 pin I think) adapter.

musikteks are simply taking drives they pay $5 for and selling them with a 80 to 50 pin scsi adapter for 10 times the cost. I don't see how it's a hassle to purchase the adapter separately if this is something you want to do.

Moreover, why would you install a scsi drive in the XL? Even the low profile drives get really hot, and it would just be straining the power supply. It makes more sense to get a CF to IDE card reader and call it a day.

A long while back SCSI4Samplers sent me a test internal 9gb scsi hdd kit for my 2kxl.
It worked beautifully, even sent me a piece of metal to fasten it inside. After successful testing I sent it all back.
It can work. I seent it. :lol:

Don't remember brand, and all that jazz though. It was at least 7 years ago because I remember where I lived, I was only there 1 year.

All good man.

Internal scsi works.

I sent it back and don't remember the particulars of the kit.

It never got hot, even after a few hours of beatmaking. I was able to access that
and my internal atapi mcd simultaneously without issue.

It was a small 9.5mm (standard laptop size) drive.

I should have bought it.

How many GBs is the hard drive? The XL only will use 9GB max on a SCSI HD.
A 2.5" SCSI HD can work but I don't know what the hell kind of connection that is on that specific HD. The internal SCSI slot inside the 2000XL is 50-pin.
Your best bet is to get the SCSI2SD card and use that for an internal HD as 9 x 1GB partitions on OS1.14/1.14c (Depending on what kind of floppy drive or card reader you have installed). I've added internal SCSI HD's in client's XL's for years and the SCSI2SD is the best & easiest way to go.
