CF Card cant be recognized

I have my mpc for years and switched last month from my old scsi zip drive to a cf card reader. A local mpc guy installed the drive and made a video of it working like a charme. When I finally received the mpc, I put a folder with some old samples, accidental some of them had more then 8 characters, on the (he formated it and presented it working in the video) card, samples were in 16 Bit / 44.1 kHz.
I put the cf card in and started the mpc and it only said "No Floppy Device" and in the setup I had no choice of selecting "ATAPI". And its still like that ...

Now my question:
Is it possible that a too long filename can corrupt a cf card so it wont work in future?
I formated it after my first mistake in exFat, which is 16 Bit, on both mac and windows, nothing worked Still the card is recognized on mac/windows so its very strange for me ...
Should I order new cf cards or is there a possiblity to make the card working?

I use my CF/SD cards on my Mac all the time. The thing to remember is to use the Cleanup SMB Mess.app to remove all the hidden Mac files and format them as FAT32 for the 2000XL.
You have to put the app on your desktop, drag and drop the CF/SD card icon onto the Cleanup SMB Mess.app, click on "Clean" and it will remove all the hidden files. I've been doing this for 5 years on 10.10 now 10.10.5 and have had no problems using my CF/SD cards on/in my MPC to Mac/PC.
