help installing memrory in 2000

i took off the panels of my mpc2000, following the manual. then to remove the operation panel, it says to remove the line connected to the cpu. how do i do that? it seems firmly in place. please help!!

which part do i slide it off from, the operation panel or the bottom of the mpc? im still pretty confused as to how to slide it off, thanks
