What Zip drive shall i go for? or cd-rom drive?

what are these mass-storage devices (zip drives,flash,cd drives) used for in an mpc?

are they used to "store" information,or to "load" information?

sorry,im still very new to the mpc2000xl lol

what are the advantages of attatching these devices?

im looking to attatch one onto my mpc2000xl but dont know which is the more reliable and easier option....i dont think i will go with the "internal" fitting as i hear lots of peeps have some trouble with the DIY.

i think i'll just stick with the SCSI

also,are there any brands that work best with the mpc2000xl,i think i heard that "iomega" are a reliable brand for attatching to mpc's.....anyone like to clarify this for me?

if u need or decide that zip is the way to go for you, then i got one i can sell you. made by iomega, its 1oomb and i got the right cable for it. i got like 10 100mb disks i'll throw in. email me or pm me if u think about it.

go for the zip drive. then once you fill a few you might wanna add a scsi hd to the equation. i also have a cdrom running to.

what about cd-drives?
would they work ok?

cause u can like store 800mb on one cd,and then u can also get the cd-rw's,plus most cds are cheap aswell.

any info for me guys?

No burning feature on the 2k/2kxl. You will have to get a stand
alone burner for that.

did you just mention that there was a list from akai showing what hardware is compatible?

if so,can u direct me to where it is?

whats the point of a 250 mb external iomega when my 3k can only handle 32 mb>?

Basically, ur mixing up the two... 32 mb of RAM (MPC) 250 mb of storage space (ZIP)

32 Mb that u claim ur MPC can handle is RAM, and acts as temp storage for your MPC whilst its still on (Stores samples u load in). RAM doesn't save the data it stores once the device is turned off.

This is where the 250mb (worth of storage space) zip comes in. The zip is a purpose built storage device with a capacity of 250 Mb. Meaning u can save that much date to it and recall it it at ur leisure.

To make it even easier...Think about ur own PC....What size is ur Hard Drive.....OK....Now How much memory does ur PC have.....See
