Note Variation Knob problem

I jus got a 2nd hand MPC for a good price, problem I'm having is the note variation knob was detatched and I cant seem to get it back on. Is there a trick or sumthing i'm supposed to know, cuz trying to force it on doesnt seem to work. can sumone fill me in please? thanks.

Are you talking just about the plastic cap?

If so, it is just likely cracked. Yo can usually get by with just putting a small folded peice of paper over the metal end and slide the cap back on. Do not glue it though.

If it is more than the cap and the shaft has pulled through (or similar) then it is time for a replacement.

yea, the shaft was apparently pulled out and wont go back in. replacement? can I do this myself, or does it have to be done professionally? if i have to take it sumwhere can you tell me where, and around how much it would cost?

call akai and order a new one for like $10-15......then you have to open the mpc and solder it.....if yu don't have any experience soldering/de-soldering....i wouldn't say do it yourself.....
