How do you track out to pro-tools?

i got an mpc2kxl and i dont know what people are talkin about when they say they track out to pro-tools? do they mean w/ the 8-outs? thanks!

I track out to vegas and logic sometimes........Its a term used to indicate what your trappin sounds on man..........what ever you use to get your sounds from the mpc to what you play in the crib or the car is what you track out on.........

'Tracking Out' refers to the process of recording your instruments onto individual audio tracks. These tracks can be recorded on a multi-track recorder (digital or tape) including the software variety such as Pro Tools, Cubase and Logic. Whether you record one track at a time or 16 tracks at once, what you are doing is 'tracking out'. Even virtual instruments require 'tracking out' prior to mixdown.

MPC owners using the 8 outputs will find tracking their beats much easier and faster if their soundcard (or mixer) has 8 or more audio inputs.

'Mixdown' is the process of taking all your song's tracks and mixing them down into a STEREO file in preparation for mastering. Normally you would mixdown to a STEREO device such as DAT, Audio Cassette, Minidisc or CD.
