re sample function

im still learning this mpc.. when i use the re sample function in trim mode how comes when i resample something it crashes or something. right now im re sampling something and then it just got this window saying resampling sound 8 and then it aint doing nothing

patience....the mpc is not clever enough to give you a progress bar or hourglass so just wait- the thing takes absolutely ages!!!

i switched off my mpc a couple of times while it was re sampling thinking it crashed cause it took soo long.. would turning it off while its resampling mess up my mpc

its takin me 45 mins sometimes
i would just go and watch tv or whatever and by the time i came back it would be straight.

Hahaha thats to funny last night I was messing around with that seeing I never messed with it b4.......that takes a long time.......I had a sample in there that took 57mins to resample.......I didnt wanna turn the mp off while it was processing so I sampled the same thing into the asrx and did the same thing in no time at all........but my point is this..........Its funny because I just did this last night....Hahahaha........

Lampdog has the right idea! Check out the equipment in your studio and use the best tools for the job. Resampling uses MPC program memory, so if you have 32mb it should be quicker than if you only had the standard 2mb.

My PC has 256mb of RAM PLUS a Pentium 4 processor, so if speed is important, USE YOUR AUDIO EDITOR FOR SAMPLING/ RESAMPLING. The job becomes much easier when your zoomed sample is on a computer screen.

man that shit is sooo slow!!! i did it once in like 10 minutes but i did ityesterday and ended up turning it off! i heard peple say the timestretch was slow, but i timestretched a loop in about 10 seconds!!!!

Creatively dirty up your sample.

edit your samples as much as possible, and use the fastest setting. Erase any dead air that the mpc will have to process. Since your lowering the sampling rate of the sound, you don't need good quality dirt. Also, chop you sounds as much as possible. If your re-sampling an edited hi-hat (one that you've erased all the dead air) it won't take too long. Try to re-sample anything more than a full second and your gonna be there for a while. Personally, I'd leave anything more than a kick/snare/hi-hat, or any really small percussive sound alone. Buy another sampler to re-sample. It will save you a lot of time.
