Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I am having this exact issue . I have tried figuring it out . I have an MPC 2000Xl with zip drive in the front. I ordered a zip disk with OS 1.20 . Put it in this morning. The green light is on , on the zip drive , but I can not get it to read the zip disk. It says no floppy device. There is no IDE or ATAPI options. On my menu . And now the zip disks is stuck in my Akai and I am unsure how to.eject it ? Any help would.be much appreciated. I am excited to start playing with my MPC 2Kxl . You guys are awesome and seem very knowledgeable.

Hi, I know nothing about your problem. I am also having issues with the zip drive on my 2kxl.

While my drive powers up, accepts the disk spits out the disk bit it does not allow me access to the Contents of the disk.

I have spent a few hours browsing threads on MPC stuff, vintage synth explorer and the entirety of the top 50 Google articles, and called two tech repair companies.

The two issues I had earlier on thought were the basis of the problem are the scai fuse is blown or that the zip disk drive was doing the click of death.

I have had the back off the machine three tes looking for fs1 and been unable to find it as it is the SCSI fuse according to a few threads and the part sold on eBay. While it may be the part on the s3000 or the s5000 it is not on the circuit board inside my 2kxl. The schematic shows that the fuse in the SCSI circuit is a surface mount rectifier green in colour about 5mm*4mm*2mm with 1x1 labelled on top.

I have no way to check this is the problem...

The other issue with the zip drive upon searching yeilded no results, I opened the drive easy peasey and the tangs that open the drive appeared fine, I am at wits end and without a method to save work.

I have searched the net high and low for fprom, a new EPROM and drives and settled on the usb drive and some bits... Got to go dinners calling.
