Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

There was a list somewhere on this site of how to convert .MP3 sounds to .wav formats. Can you assist with what that freeware was? Also wondering if there is a way to convert non - 16 bit wav to a 16 bit wav format so that it can be read and used by the MPC. I am having difficulty with both of these issues. Any help is appreciated. THANKS.

hey you can do it with an audio editor like sound forge . just open your file and save it in an other format (or another sample rate if you want to have for example a 16 bit sample from a 8 bit one ) i think most of the recent programs can do it .
bye

My conversions of these wavs have failed. Once they were done, they sounded fine on PC but once loaded into MPC via Zip they sounded like triple speed, ala Chipmunks talking. Any reason why this might happen? I tried using SoundForge to convert the samples but it didnt seem to work. Any help is appreciated.

Only thing I can think of is the sampling frequency 22k, 44.1k, 48k, 96k etc.
This can cause 16bit samples to playback at the wrong speed.

You most likely simply changed the file information as to the wav's bitrate, you need to actually use a "resample" command. Sound Forge, for instance, lets you do either of the operations. If a sound is properly resampled to 16-bit, 44.1kHz it'll play correct speed/pitch on the MPC.
