Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Wat up MPC heads yo I got my hands on a Roland Fantom X6, sounds great works great but I want to control it through my MPC via midi. What am I doing wrong???
My midi set up on the MPC is on I have my midi cable coming from the roland fantom out, in to the MPC, yet my MPC is not controlling it. I need y'all help!!

The reason why the MPC 2000 is not controlling your Fantom is that there are no signals going to the Fantom.

You need two cables.

MPC 2000 out to Fantom in. This will let the MPC 2000 send signals to the Fantom.
Fantom out to MPC 2000 in. This will let the MPC 2000 record signals sent to it from your Fantom.

If you do this... be prepared to look in the fantom midi settings to turn local control or soft thru off... I don't have a Fantom, but a lot of synths will create a midi feedback loop when connected like this to the MPC. It's no problem to fix, but if the keyboard or the MPC starts acting weird, just check your midi settings.

Midi out of the MPC 2000 to the MIDI in of the Fantom. I guess the real question is what function are you trying to control?
