cool edit, you can MAKE a bassline from scratch. No need to buy anything extra if you just take the time to figure out HOW. Is it easy, no, for me cause I've done it in several different wave editors, yes.

i think it all depends by what you mean by "make a bassline"

for some it means chop a bass sample to one note and play it back as pitched notes, others might take a whole loop and filter out the highs, others might use a plugin sample library instrument like Trilogy in a sequencer such as Cubase, others still might want that tb303 acid sound and may get a 303 plugin synced to fruityloops etc.

so it helps to know exactly what you're trying to do, or give an example of the type of bass sound/line you want to achieve (i.e. it's on this dr dre track etc), otherwise you'll get a lot of answers that confuse you even further, or you may get no answers at all

That's real, maybe I indirectly and unknowingly contributed to the confusion, sorry.

it's all good man, i often give quick answers when i'm "in the zone" and can easily forget that people are often on different pages to each other!

so many people ask similar questions here that it's obvious that a lot are starting out, and i (vaguely) recall how confusing it was back then!

you can make a good bassline on the mpc with the pitch shift thingy , i just do it by step (get the first and last note tuned in good and fill in the middle, its best to work backwards when you make a bassline)

you can make a sweet bass sample buy sampling the buzz of you finger ova the RCA cord going in you LINE IN then eq the HIs out
you can do this on the mpc if you go to >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

PERAMETERS (on the blue buttons wit the white SHIFT) the filter is on that

generate a sine wave and loop it then auto chrom it. play it back form the mpcs pads or keys.
