hooking mpc up to pro tools with the midi

hello i cant get the mpc to pro tools midi in sync together. i have an mpc and pro tools patched upto the amt8 and need to know what settings i do in the pro tools. any advice would be helpful.

Do a search and you will find what you need to sync up the two.

i just had the same problem like a month ago. The first thing you need to do is set the midi icon in protools to midi beat clock, and then in the mpc go to midi/ sync (shift 9) and turn the mode to midi clock and the mmc on. Thats is the sync in( left side).

Both of your first two responders were on the money.

Midi Time Code and Midi Beat Clock are options.

is pro tools really the way of the world....is this set up to replace outboard gear ...dont know much about it..whats the benefits..i just hear it all the time ..

One of the reason why it's always mentioned is because some people refer to
the Digidesign hardware as bein "Pro tools" as well as the software. This is
particulary comon among a'n'r people cos the only two gear names they can remember is said Pro tools and ssl usually they have no clue what either

Is there a certain advantage? Is is for tracking and mixing...Im looking to get a software to make my life easier..Maybe you can suggest one..I use the motif , planet phatt, jv 1080 for sound modules and i always have to re-enter the patches time and time again to call up a song. im hoping using a software will recall these sounds for me automactically and save me aggravation and make the creating process much easier..Right now im not using any software. i sequence on the mpc 2000 and i record into the VS 1880..Any suggestions..Thanks in advance

Yeah. DeHromie.
You can get Pro Tools, but it will involve an investment in new hardware and software....maybe even a new computer depending on what you've got. I use Pro Tools and love it though. But, I believe that the VS 1880 works in tandem with Cubase as a DAW. Look at the Roland website and at the Cubase website for that info. That might save you some cheese.

(There are also some VST instruments nd FX included with Cubase and tons of others that are available for $$$ or free.)

I use cubase but protools can do the EXACT same thing. Its just a matter of prefernce, their are benfits and downsideds to each u have to find what fits u
