Update:

I bought a PCMCIA card and tried that in the drive, but the MPC still says no disc. PC reads it fine.

I tried switching the SCSI cable ends inside the mpc, and I played with the terminator setting. Still getting the same error "SCSI not Ready" and "No Disc."

Anyone know what I can do to solve this?

dj dcypher,
firmware V3.2 may be the problem. I was not aware that there was a version after 3.1 which is the version I am using in my MPC.

Send me an email from the link in my profile and I will send you v3.1. But this would require you to install the reader in a SCSI equipped PC to uploading. Else, you can to send me the PCD, I will update it for you or I send you my v3.1 spare and try the 3.2 in my PC. V3.1 had problems i XP and I suspect the 3.2 was to take care of this.

Otherwise you could try an IDE atapi compatible internal reader.

But be sure that:

1) Fully compatible with ATAPI
2) Adopts native driver
3) Avoid anything that has drivers

There is a model called IISDMC, which is selled by differents brands which
is compatible with the MPC. Well atleast I got that info from the Midicase Akai mailinglist.

Maybe this one:
http://www.verbatim.com.au/products/pro ... ?ID=IISDMC
or http://www.psism.com/iisdmc.htm

I did not say there was an email in my profile. There is a link in my profile from which you will find an email address.

Reason is that I do not answer PM's. I do not even read them since 99% of the messages were "how do I do this?" or "how do I install that?" and these are the types of messages that should be on the forums.

Update:

The problem was there were 4 bent pins in the Compact Flash slot. Once the pins were straightened the drive worked fine. Firmware version 3.2 will work with the MPC.

Thanks to mpc3000 for helping me out with this.

Just installed mine and the danm thing makes me partition my 1Gig CF into 2 partitions and I can't get it to go to A-A instead of A-B - this is BS!

Maybe try getting a PCMCIA adaptor and use the CF card in slot one. Maybe that slot can read a larger card. Just a thought, not sure if it will work.

Keep us updated.
