Release on Strings

Okay.. kinda hard to explain

Say I'm writing a string line using a looped (i.e. infinite) string sample on the mpc. I want the release of the played string note to run into the start of the next string note.

Now:
I've got two envelope choices (start and end).
I've got three type of playback control (mono, poly and note off).

Which way should I set the sample up so that the notes will react the way I want.

The one thing I did notice is if I use NOTE_OFF with the envelope set to END, the release doesn't seem to work.

Can anyone help?

adjust the decay to like 40, 30, 50.... or what ever to get that slow release....

Problem with that is that as you pitch a string the duration changes and the release relates to the total duration of the note.
So, the release is far longer for some notes than others.

What I want to be able to do is use a looped sample set to NOTE_OFF
Play each note until the next one is due to come in.
Have the envelope release the looped note into the start of the next one.

This is really basic stuff but I can't seem to get it to work. The release envelopes don't seem to work when you use a looped sample set to NOTE_OFF.
If I set the sample to mono or poly and use a normal sample (looped samples don't really work properly this way), the release time isn't constant.

Anyone know what I'm talking about or experienced the same this?

I use an S3000XL alongside the MPC and it's really easy to do on that but I'm trying to get all the S3000 sounds onto the MPC to make live sets easier.
