It depends on what makes me you more comfortable to let the creativeness flow. I can use either stand alone from raw sample all the way to full blown song. I know people who would rather have just a keyboard. I know others who would rather have just the MPC. Both are VERY capable machines with different feels. But the MPC is just easier to deal with, and of course the pads make tappin out sounds so simple..
