how do you sync MPC with Pro Tools?

I have a 2000xl and my friend records with Pro Tools. Does any one know the best way to get pro tools to record the different tracks on a single sequence, on the mpc, to record in sync?
Is it possible to do it analog or is the only way midi?

To record individual tracks, and to get them to match up for a peticular sequence, you'll have to mute certain tracks that you don't want while recording, and you'll require MIDI to get the individual tracks to match up. If you record a sequence all at once, no, you don't need MIDI (This would work if you're in Song mode and the different tracks come on automatically, MIDI isn't required if you don't care about individual tracks).

You have to use MMC out of Pro Tools
set the tempo in your Pro Tools session to match that of the sequence.
Set your MPC to MMC also.
This will lock your tracks for individual dumps and they will line up right in your session. If the tracks slip you will have to do some editing in Pro tools.
but you should get a lock. If you have 8 outs you can do some bulk dumps depending on your Pro tools interface. This way, you can hear everything playing at once for instant JOY. If not ....JUST TRACK IT .

Im using cubase to sync but the concept and process will be exaclty the same in protools..

i have all my stuff synced to my Pro Tools But there is some soft ware that i have to load right that comes with the Pro tools so that i would be able to see my MPC on the Pro Tools right?

Same advice I give erybody going from hardware into Protools(or any other DAW). Just fly the loops into Protools one at a time and remake the beat in the software. If you're feeling really up to it, Put your drum sounds in one at a time and remake the patterns on the Protools grid. MIDI is aiight, but even quantized MPC's drift a little off the quant mark. Some call this the 'feel' of the machine, I call it inaccurate. If I want 'swing' or 'feel' it is better constructed to personal taste as opposed to letting a machine designate how much off-beat you want your drum hits. Also MIDI is not totally accurate either, there are latency issues. My opinion of course, and my approach is for cats that prefer to track their sounds into actual audio as opposed to triggering live via MIDI or MIDI chains. **One imporant side-note: Tracking individually provides a better sound than multi-track passes as MPC's as with any other sampler are more accurate when they handle less data on playback, but to each their own of course.**
