MPC lcd screen going dim

Wassup yall,

I bought my MPC2000xl used from my friend around 2001. Since the day a got it the LCD screen would slowly go dim, I cant leave it on for more then 2 hours before the screen goes out. The backlight still works and I tried adjusting the contrast with shit+knob but nothing helps.

Im just wondering if anybody encountered this problem before. Do I have to send it out for repair or just order the LCD screen and do it my self?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the install is really easy, im sure you can do it yourself, I installed one on my old 2000.
