Akai S20 w/ MPC 2000 XL

Does anyone have any experience using the Akai S20 16-bit sampler and would this unit be beneficial to use with the MPC 2000XL, I found one at a local pawn shop for $99 so should I grab it or not. The major benefit I was thinking would be the ability to transport. The Akai S20 is definitely alot smaller and I could maybe take to friend's houses or other locations to sample sounds and then put them into my MPC Sequences.
Opinions Please.

i own one but i never tried to use any of the stuuff i sampled on the s20 and load it into my MPC ....theorectically it should work as long as your not sampling anythng that requires a lot of memory ..you can probably load it into the mpc re work them ........

Philly Thump.....do you like the S20 and is it worth the $99 or would it be a waste seeing that I already have an MPC?

Id just stick with the mpc. If you are looking to have a portable so you can "sketch pad" with it get the sp 202 for the same price, runs on batteries and built in mic, for sampling that girl talking on her cell phone on the bus saying "oH, MY, GOD!", and it has some nice stuff for a portie bat-op unit (the only real comeptetor with it is the yamaha su 10)


If you are looking to work like, say go to a friends house to record stuff, Id get a portable HD recorder and simple lay tracks down on that, then take that out and record vocals and bring it back home.

I would rather have a remix 16, (basically the same thing) for around the same price, cuz you can do more with the remix, like do live remixing since the 16 is basically a mixer and a sampler.

he's right i gave my S20 away it's a toy compared to some other things out there
