Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey guys, when using a Yahmaha Motif with my MPC 2000, I can’t figure out how to use different sounds. For instance, I use a piano sound in one track, then I want to use percussion sounds for another track. It seems like I can only use one sound at a time.
I’ve read a few posts that touched on this topic, but nothing that actually explained how to accomplish this? Any suggestions?

Thanks

if its connect via midi, you have to change MIDI channels on every track. that is, if you want to use a different instrument on each track.

example:
Track 1
MIDI:1a/b

Track 2
MIDI:2a/b

etc..

dosnt have to be in that order, but that should help at least a bit!

Motif has to be in Song or Pattern mode

thanks for getting back to me, but I still can figure it out. I think the main problem is that I don't know how to select sounds on the Motif when in song or pattern mode. Any suggestions?

Try the dedictaed buttons on the upper right side of the board, the ones with all the instrument names. Also give the manual a quick glance, it covers this basic stuff pretty well.
