how do you use reason and mpc

I have a G5 mac with pro-tools and reason 2.5. I wanted to know how to efficiently use this program with my mpc 2000xl. Also is there a way to put reason into pro-tools for recording. Thanks

I'm not a Reason user but I have friends that are. All I know is that you use a plug-in in Pro-tools. This plug-in comes with Reason which is called Re-Wire, it's an (RTAS) plug-in.

There are other necessities that you have to fulfil first before you can start recording stuff you've done from Reason into pro-tools.

For you to record anything you've done in Reason into Pro-tools (apart from percussion tracks, I believe). Reason and Pro-tools must be running simultaneously for anything you want recorded in Pro-tools. You need to set your audio input/output (i'm not sure which one) to your Digi design interface.

Insert Reason on an aux or audio track in PT, setup the outputs in Rewire and record, simple.

After you rewire Reason into a track in Protools you can also use your mpc as an external sequencer to control reason...whichever instrument you want..redrum, Nxt or whatever. You can then bang out beats on your mpc using the reason sounds and the funk of the mpc sequencer. Just make sure you have your midi cables hooked up correctly to your soundcard and set protools to run thru whichever instrument in reason you wish to control with your mpc.
