who has a mackie 1402/ 8 outs PLEASE HELP

Please someone explain to me how u have ur 8 outs hooked up to ur mackie 1402v lz for those that have the 2...
I know how to individual out all the sounds on the mpc but, on the mackie side what goes on.. What ouputs on the mackie do you use to go into your DAW...On the individual channels on the mackie do u pan. left/right on every other channel when mixing down to ur DAW... If someone can give me some insight on what they do step by step it would be helpful.

i guess it's a bit different for everyone, do you use alot of stereo samples or just mono? i would use 6 of the outs running mono samples into the mono channels 1-6 then use outs 7, 8, and the main stereo outs to two of the stereo channels on the 1402 for stereo samples. this might not work for you, how do you have your samples/output settings set up now?

outs 1-8 into mackie channels 1-8, main outs or control room outs to your soundcard, unless it has busses, then I'd use the bus outs. If your soundcard has more than 2 ins you could use the sub outs and mains.

You should read the mackie manual, they explain everything and show you some typical set ups. they have them at their website for download.

If you use the main outs from the mpc into the mixer, wouldnt that defeat the purpose of individual outs as you'll hear all channel tracks in the mix now? the way i have it setup now is outs 1-8 going to the mackie the same way 1-6 mono..and i use the 7/8 9/10 for stereo samples. From here i would like to be able to sub group certain sounds together and have them go into my VS1880.. Not even sure how to do this. im thinking have certains tracks on the mackie go left, some right.. Now once this is done, you guys are saying use the control outs on the mackie mixer and takes those into my DAW..I saw alt 3/4 and some insert inputs on the back of the mixer, i'll check now for control outs.. I have the alt outs connected in my patchbay so i can route them out to a compressor which is also in the patchbay chain.. Am i on the right track, maybe i am but just on the wrong train

the sub-mix outs 3/4 are accessed by 'muting' the channels that you want sent out to them. sort of a double function. how are your control room and main outs being used?

I meant the main outs of the mixer to your soundcard, but that's if you don't have a multi inpout soundcard (4 ins) that would match the sub group outs.

using the main outs on the MPC is just like having 2 extra outs, just turn down the volume of all the sounds except the ones you want and pan them left or right. or you could use them for stereo samples, or if you have the effects card it can be used as a effects out with all the volumes in the MPC main out mixer down, and the sends up.

I think im beggining to understand. You mentioned pan/left pan right. What exactly if anything should be panned left and right..Do u pan channels on the mpc,? Is there a need to do so on the mixer at some point..Excuse the questions, just trying to come full circle.

you can also use the main outs on the mpc as monitor outs so you can compare how it sounds without going through the mixer. Sometimes its good to hear things without being tweaked for various reasons(like when you overkilled your mix, and need to go back and reference to).

the panning selects the output used. If you pan it full left it comes out the left channel, if you pan it full right it comes out the right output, that's how you get them to be extra individual outs.

On the mackie when selecting the bus outputs you need to pan each channel hard to select which one it will come out of otherwise it will be oin both 1/2 or 3/4 or L/R depending which buttons you hit.
