MPC2000xl Crashes, every 30 min or so....!!@#!@#!!???

Hello,

I'm using an MPC2000xl and i've recently installed a 250 mb zip in it.
I'm working on sequences, and the last couple nights I've experienced periodic CRASHES of the machine about every 30 min/hr.

This is unacceptable, and I need to know if anyone has experienced any symptoms like this with my particular setup.

I'm going out on multiple buss-outs, and I have 3 different programs loaded. My sequences are only utilizing 1 of the programs though.
It seems like the times it crashes is when I leave it alone for a couple of minutes. I've tried "taboo trix" like hitting shift-save and the open window buttons, but none of this stuff is really working. I think it did work one of the times, but I can't really understand what's happening.

Before yesterday, I don't think my MPC ever crashed on me for the entire time I've owned it; So this is pretty peculiar.
I also upgraded to the OS 1.2 when I installed the ZIP....

1.20 really only helps with card reader stability. you didnt need to upgrade to it when you got the zip. It doesnt correct or improve anything outside of making the system compatible a card reader. From what I've heard, its hella buggy and makes your system pretty unstable.

Several people that did a card reader upgrade found that it just made stuff act up. They downgraded back to 1.14, and the MPC was fine, and totally stable, even with the card reader.

That being said, load/install OS 1.14 back onto your system, and you should be fine. Im thinking that its not a coincidence that your OS got buggy when you changed it.

Or possibly, you knocked the RAM sticks loose during the Zip install.

Or both.

First, open it up, doublecheck your RAM is secure. Then install OS 1.14, and see what happens.

i sorta had a feeli'n about that... just didn't know whether or not my programs would be backwards compatible... makes sense that akai wouldn't alter the structure of the .pgm/.seq files....

that'd be hilarious if it was my RAM.

anyway, i'll give that a try and post back;
