Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By rc Mon May 16, 2005 2:01 pm
just got my 2000XL yesterday, I'm excited but a little intimidated!

I've searched on these forums for similar problems. Apologies if any of this has been asked before

Problem #1 - Zones
When I set up some zones on a bar of drums, the MPC forgets where I put my start and end points but does remember how many zones I setup. How can I change this? Splitting up samples seems way too hard.

Problem #2 - Trim
If I'm trimming a freshly recorded sample, with play-x set to Zone, all I hear when I press play is a short section from the end of the sample. It ignores my start and end points. It's really hard to trim something using visuals only!!

Would a firmware upgrade help? I don't know which one I'm using, I'm that new to the 2K!

Help appreciated.

Cheers,

B

thanks. I'm pretty sure I was on the trim screen, but I'll try again later.

Since youre new to the XL and youre messing with samples and trimming and zoning. Be sure to cop the memory upgrade **YOU WILL WANT THIS FOR LONGER SAMPLE TIME** :) I copped mine off Ebay for like $8 and "do-it-yourself" installation only takes about 5 minutes. Peace

Actually i would suggest getting Tutor's "MPC2000XL TUTORIALS" beat making book, it doesn't cost that much and it will save you from maaaaaaaaany headaches.

No, you just need to learn your machine that's all.
You'll be fine with more practice, it won't be overnight though,
