Aiyo

I got a 2k xl with internal zip 100 plus scsi hd & an external iomega scsi 100 hooked up to the PC aswell.

Since I recently filled up the scsi-hd with beats I started loading my sh*t on old Zips to Archive the old beats on cd or dvd or whatever.
I gots that Ioware or what its called and I can see and copy files & dirs but my main problem is that the filesystem is giving me f*cking headaches!

Here's an example:
I got a folder on the Zip with a beat. In that folder I have .wav .all .aps files. When I load up the zip into the mpc the filenames of the .all files are like

achimedic.all
achimedic_2.all
...

since I got different versions.

Same goes for some samples that I split from stereo->mono, so obviously there are files like

shaker.wav
shaker_l.wav
shaker_r.wav

To come to the point (yes......)
When I load that shit on the PC (XP SP2, NTFS) all these similar files got the same name. Of course thats only how the pc reads the files but when I try to copy them the PC asks if I wan't to replace one file with the other.

Simple you think. Just rename em...
Yea sure,... but when I put them on Zip again, no matter if double files or just 2 wavs and a pgm the filenames will be f*cked and the mpc will not know which files to load etc...

I hope there's some filesystem fix. Otherwise I'm f*cked bigtime :(

I'd apreciate any help, since I've already wasted an evening of potential beatmaking with filesystem-hating. I cant save any new sh*t as long as I dont get this working ...

Oh, and by the way: Sup fellas. First post here and I must honestly say this place is dope as shhhhhh. Found some nice ideas reading the other day Big up to the dude that came up with that usb-scsi idea!
Hope I can be helpfull aswell.

Read through those post you find and you can find your answer cause we've
been through this plenty of times before on the forums.
The answer is out there Mulder.

I'm not feeling cool today, so with that, don't do 1.20 stay with 1.14.
stay with 8.3 names from now on when dealing with zip and pc transfer.

I've read through everything man..

I also know similar shit has been talked about and argued here aswell.
My Problem works the other way round though...
I just want to know if its possible to backup my zips in a way that will not **** up my .pgms and rename all longer files.

I have almost a 800MB of beats that i need to backup, and i hope there is a better solution than MPC-editor or a flashcard-reader extention.

I like the idea though. Does it support more chars in the files?
Again, sorry for coming up with this similar subject but im f*cking stuck and i cant work on stuff untill i get this data backed up so this is kinda urgent.
