Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

What's up ?
I called AKAI yesterday and asked about the card reader for the mpc2000 xl
and to my surprise they're selling them now with all the wires you need and no soldiering necessary. They're selling them for $180.00 but you have to pay
for shipping the other option was you could send them your mpc and they'd
install it for you and ship it back to you for $200.00 .
That's music to my ears because now I record my records into my computer
and chopp it up and then transfer to my smartmedia and load into my
Motif Es now I can do that with the card reader once I purchase it and load perfect loops etc into the mpc2000xl . I was going to keep this to myself but
felt a lilttle bit guilty so I decided to share the knowledge.
any way the number to call is 626-794-0052 and ask about the card reader.
I just need yall to save me one because I haven't copped one yet because rent is due DAMMNNN !!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheaper to buy your own and install, won't even be more than $100 total.
Mine was $70 US, installed in 15 minutes..

Also most Comp stores sell these internal floppy sized Card readers but its an internal USB 2.0 connection.. dont buy those, they will not work. They need to be IDE/ATAPI

I can see how cats be nervous about taking their MPCs apart, but $200? DAMN!!!! I got the one on the link above, paid about $40, and installed it in less than 10 minutes. Works perfectly with OS 1.12 and 1.14... I'd rather spend that extra $160 on records...

Update !! I called them again and being that my 2000xl already had zip drive installed by akai they told me that it's going to be $91 because the first price quote was for the whole kit and all I needed was the reader.
so that's kool with me i save 100 bucks for a reader that's guaranteed to work
and I dont have to modify my 2000xl incase I ever wanted to reinstall the zip.
