Memory Question...

Hey, I'm kinda new...so flame if you must, but everytime I dry to load a sample pack it loads fine and then it eventually says, "not enough memory"

This obviously means that there is not enough memory, but I'm not sure why it's saying this. Not all the pads are being used, so how could it possibly be out of memory?

Sorry if this is a dumb question...I feel really dumb typing it so it probably is.

So if it is...shoot me...twice...in the head.

U need more RAM man, thats all. Im assuming ur MPC just has the standard 2MB of ram. U need to by somemore

Damn...this guy on eBay said it came with expanded RAM.

Oh well...I got it for $730...so I'm not complaining. =P

Well u can check how much ram u have, i dont have the manual infront of me. But there is a way to do it very quickly.

Well...hopefully it will be worth every penny.

and besides...I've got tons of RAM stored up, and I just looked up what kind of RAM is compatible, so I'm hoping that I've got some of them in storage.

and I do not have memory expansion, so I must check. Or use this as a really heavy paperweight.

to check memory on a 2000XL:

HOLD "SHIFT" + press SAMPLE

HIGHLIGHT THE SPOT WHERE IT SAYS "Time" and press OPEN WINDOW

A screen will open up showing you how much RAM you have installed. That's in the manual...

Also the RAM can be bought on ebay for like $13. There shouldnt be much of a price difference of an XL with or without max RAM, since it is only 13 bucks to max it out to 32MB.
