Symptoms of a faulty floppy drive?

wussup y'all, help me troubleshoot for a minute. when I'm messin wit my 2XL I always seem to get disk errors. Sometimes the files on the disk come out wit all jumbled names, sometimes it just sez disk read error. End up not being able to load or save, and all the work I did is for nothing. It happens without fail, every time, after the 2XL's been on for about an hour or so. Does this sound like my drive's fuk'd? Do i have to use a certain brand of floppy to avoid this? Should I just take my machine to have the floppy replaced with an internal zip 250? help me out on this one folks, it's really pissin me off! peace.

you runnin the current OS? look on akaipro.com to see if you are. could be your problem. if not, i'll sell you my old floppy that came with the mpc.

I tried to dl the OS from Akaipro.com but the link was dead. Does somebody have another link from a mirror or something? and how do I know the OS im currently running on the mpc? thanks.

Download the latest OS and install. It could be a faulty OS.

If the problem persists then it could be the floppy drive itself.
Replace it, get Mesh's or go to a PC store and buy one. 250zip would be my final answer but that's just my personal choice..

I have my original floppy drive in the closet waiting for the chance to be activated again like an old, ancient, out of commision Decepticon.

I went to that page.. clicked download under mpc 2XL OS, and a page comes up, seems like it's another language, cuz it's all jumbled on my browser. I do see a big ass "X" tho, so im guessing the link is dead. Any other options?
