It seems like you would get a lot more bang for what your trying to do with a 1k.

You can edit the drums with a visual sound wave on the screen. It cuts the time down by far. And, hell yea you can tighten the drums on that thing. That's what it's known for. I know a lot of big time producers who have a 2000xl in their studio for tight drum work. It's also easy to hook up a couple of keyboards and use the mpc as a global controller.
