By sugarbrown Fri May 27, 2005 4:44 pm
I just picked up a MPC 2000XL and Im having a hard time loading up sounds. I have both JAZ drivbe and a ZIP drive but sadly im clueless.
Does anyone know about any workshops that deals directly with the AKAI system?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS

Are you trying to use the JAZ and the ZIP drive ? You need to know a little bit about SCSI devices and how to daisy chain them. If you already have the SCSI knowledge, then:

1. Set the ZIP drives ID to 5 and the JAZ drives ID to 6

2. Make sure that the JAZ drive has it's termination switch set to on, as it's the last device in the SCSI chain, and therefore must be terminated.

3. On the MPC, hold down the SHIFT key and press the LOAD key

4. Using the arrow keys on the MPC, cursor down to the DEVICE field, using the data wheel, select the device you wanna load sounds from: SCSI-5 = ZIP SCSI-6 = JAZ

Thats it in a nutshell, but like cypher said, you need to give up more detail on whats happening when you try to load sounds.
