midi problems...sos

Im using the 2000xl as the master and a roland xp60 as the slave.....I program the beat pattern on the mpc and put it on track 1.......i play a bassline from the roland xp-60 and put it on track 2...when i pick a piano sound for track 3 it changes my bass sound on track 2 to a piano...can some one tell me what im doing wrong

double check to make sure your not putting the piano on the bassline track. Also i know that happened to me once and it had something to do with the program number.

it sounds like you have two sounds on the same midi channel

thanks for your help...but im changing midi channels again i have the drum track from the mpc 2000xl on track 1
mpc 2000xl track2 midi 2a divice2=roland xp 60 bassline track 2
mpc 2000xl track3 midi 3a divice3=roland xp 60 piano track 3


my bassline sound turns into a piano how can i keep my bassline on track2 goto track three play piano and record it to track 3 and still be able to have the bassline on 2 and the piano on 3

Buy a Motif and all your problems will dissapear.

have you assigned your midi channels on your keyboard to reflect those assigned in the MPC? IF not, that can be your problem.

ex. MPC track 1 = drums ( no midi)
MPC track 2 = bassline midi channel 2a / keyboard bassline = midi channel 2
MPC track 3 = piano midi channel 3a / keyboard piano = midi channel 3

and so on.

Im sure you can use up to 16 channels on your keyboard if i'm not mistaken. I am totally unfamiliar with your keyboard.

Give me the money and i will buy a motiff....anyway fixed the problem set the xp 60 to factory default and handle it from there.....

Sorry girl I would have told you how to fix your problem but the motif 2 MPC is all I mess wit.
