how many of you use sound modules??

also, if you are using your computer to record audio, can you use that same machine and have the mpc play software synths? i am presently playin around with pro tools free?

I have 2 hardware synths, but i hardly use them anymore. I would advice using softsynths if you have a low latency soundcard already.

Run the mpc's midi out A to the computer's midi in. Now go to "track" on the main screen, and change it from "drum" to "midi 1-A".

Load a midi-track in pro-tools, and set the output to a synth (it should be in the manual or help files, this is just like setting up a regular plug-in instrument). Select the right midi-input too if you have more than one. Click the monitor button on the midi track (i'm not sure what this is called in protools) to hear the synth.

If you press the pads on the mpc, you should hear the softsynth now. If you record on the mpc, it will record the midi notes and play them back.

can u apply this method to any other programs out there, like acid or sonar, or sound forge?

I use a Proteus 2ooo sound module along with a Suzuli 450EX mini grande piano but, mostly the Proteus 2000. I have a Yamaha AW16g hard disk recorder that rounds out my setup. I don't use any computers/software in my setup at this point.

I myself use the Planet Phatt, The virtuoso 2000, and the Mo Phatt w/Zr Coakely expansion rom, And a Yamaha psr 540 keyboard on occassions for midi banks, all of which I controll with a Studio Logic SL880. For multi tracking I use the VS 1824CD. Can't forget the turntable and PC which I use for sample editing. Soundforge 6.0 I'm still a bit new to Sampling,sampling. I'm more of a module freak!

A keyboard minus the keys. The perfect space saver. Pending on it's expansion limits a whole gang of ISH/sounds to play with

atc-x's are mono voice synths. (strictly for bass and leads)
kind of along the lines of having an old minimoog but with S.E.M, TB303, and ARP 2600 analog filters.
they'll run you anywhere between 1200-1300
they're the same people that make the SE-1

The MO phatt and the Zr Rom. Seeing that you already have the Proteus all you need to do is cop the expansion rom rather than buy more plastic. I'm sure you know you have two more expansion slots in your module less you've already filled them. That's one for your A channels and one for your B channels. The sample quality and presets on both roms are bangin'! Just think you could get the expansions and still come out cheaper. Plus you don't have to cop anymore midi cords etc; I love me some modules.

i was thinkin about gettin the planet phatt for 300 is it worth it

Besides the fact that they have some killah banks, they don't even make them anymore. I know a few people looking for one. The difference between the Planet Phatt and the Mo Phatt aside of time difference is the sample quality. Preset wise, I prefer the Planet Phatt over the Mo Phatt.
