SCSi Gear - What Works Best!?

question regarding millenium..

this is what I want to do:
while Playing a drum loop via mpc
use soundforge to play different parts of tracks i want to sample over the beat.. i get an idea of the sounds and rhythm that i want to throw on top.. can i actually drag files from soundforge right into the programs of the 3000 via millenium?

It says you can easily open a sound within your sampler to edit in soundforge.. but could you actually just straight up add new sounds from within soundforge?

I use a Jaz drive which one should avoid at all costs. The only pro is that I can have a cigarette while my files are saving. Same goes for loading.

My guess would be to Install drive (PC)...SCSI it up to the S2000...Get the alternative version of Ak.sys for the S2000 then drag and drop between your comp and your S2000. (Remember the same connections issues will apply)

Has anyone tried this yet.. can you actually drag and drop files/samples straight to the sampler via millennium?

Call me an idiot, but it seems to me that you wouln't need a new hard drive if this is possible.. just create a sample database on one thats already in your pc.. is that correct?

Well in theory it seems like that should work, I just ordered it so I'll let you guys know if its worth it.

I'm probably pissing you guys off by now, but..

Can I just SCSI from S3000 to my SCSI card, without daisy chaining to the other hard drives?

Do you know if I have to download an additional ASPI driver?

i think im gonna get two zip drives i just got a scsi of ebay for 20 bucks and then im gonna get a usb for my computer to save drums and shit and then put them into my mpc (when i get it im just gettin all my shit so when i get it i'll be set)

Even this is not the right forum and vastly different from the original target, the S3000 only works with MESA under a Mac. And yes, you can transfer WAV/AIFF(?) files directly to and from the Mac.

Definitely a recommended, ordered my HD there too. Although I was first bidding on a 18Gig drive and they told me an MPC can only address 9Gig. Also haven't found out yet how to access the other parts of the drive so that I can use over 900 Mb of it :p

Damn.. that sux for me, already ordered millenium.. I figured it would surely work with the s3000 b/c it is designed for the s3000xl, and they're so similar people often talk about them as the same sampler.. If i was smart enough I'd figure a way around it.

Thats the set-up i got right now.. pretty sure thats the best option if your just using the 2k.
