I have a 4gb scsi hard drive hooked up to MPC2000. Lately, the mpc has stopped recognizing the drive. I get the "wait..." message indefinitely. I know it's the hard drive beacause my zip drive works and the hard drive doesn't work on my friend's 2000 either.
So I have a scsi card on my G4 and I want to make a backup. The drive gets recognized by the mac, but I can see only one of the 5 partitions.
I know about the filename problems and of course my filenames are too long. So I was thinking that I should back up the files to another scsi hard drive by writing a disk image via a bit to bit copy. This program called "Hard Disk Toolkit" was recommended to me.
Does this seem like a reasonable approach?
Any other suggestions as to a better way to retrieve my files? would I be better off finding a pc to back things up to?
I've also heard that there is a limit to the amount of data a 2000 can recognize. Do anyone think it's possible that this could be why my drive stopped being recognized?
