differences between mpc 2000 and mpc 2000xl

i tried searching for this on the database but had little luck...can one of you informed cats fill me in?

I want the MPC essentially for live purposes--so basically, if the improvements to the 2000xl don't apply to the live setting, let me know! Any information is greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this answers your question but one of the differences between the 200 & the 2000XL is the next sequence function which gives you the power to jump through sequences without having to stop the first sequence to start up the second. That is unless you choose to do so by hitting the sudden command. So I guess pending how you plan to set it up Yes it is good for live performances.

You can switch sequences on the fly in the MPC2000 (MPC60 and MPC3000 also) just like the MPC2000XL. Just because their isn't a dedicated button for it doesn't mean you can't do it!

While there are many differences listed at MPC2000XL.com, the one that has affected me and my live performances the most is the ability to switch fro PLAY to REC/OVERDUB and back again without stopping the sequencer. Can't do that on the former model.

I'm confused in regards to this statement, as I switch between playing and recording all the time using my non-XL 2k. You sure you just never used 1.72? There's a few other things I frequently find reported as impossible on the original 2000, which I do on the daily. I can't think right now but just thought I'd mention the one.
