triggering 16 levels from external sequencer (pro Tools)

Here's the situation - I imported a midi file that i created on the mpc into pro tools so that I could more easily edit the arrangement around vocals that haven't been recorded yet, editing the midi notes rather than recorded audio. After much turmoil I finally got it working so that the MPC is now acting like a standalone sampler being triggered from pro tools. The problem is I sequenced the bass lines on the MPC using the 16 levels feature, and now when I play the sequence from pro tools, it only triggers the original bass note and ignores the "16 levels" tuning changes. Can this issue be corrected to play the "16 leveled" bass note like it did on the MPC? I don't know if this has to do with a midi control # or something like that - or if the 16 level tuning feature is exclusive to, and only recognized by the MPC sequencer itself. Please help a brother out. I'm using MPC2000xl and pro tools 6.1 peace to all

not sure how its works. but you cant do it. there must be some sort of controll number it transmits to specify the pitch value for each sample triggered in the sequence. its like when you try to use the 16 levels from the midi k/b hooked up to an mpc, its just dont do it. maybe have a look in the midi data for anything extra it may of added. but as far as i know the 16 levels can only be access internally. your gonna have to auto chrom that bass sounds to a new pgm. and assign that to DRUM2 or whatever...

thanks for the reply nano. you sound pretty sure that it doesn't work, and that kinda sucks. Thats one less drum program I'll be able to use if i ever want to play out melodies using a single note. Does this apply to the velocity side of "16 levels" as well? I use that a lot as well and would hate to stop.

Yes. 16 levels functions are only programmablevia the sequencer of the mpc AFAIK.
