Problem with MPC 2000xl I just got

I'm probably just going to have to return this to the company I got it from, but I wanted to at least throw this out there in case anyone had heard of it.

I just got an MPC 2000xl from eBay. Everything seemed great and I already got an internal zip installed. So last night I started to actually work with it to build some pgm's and whatnot. Suddeny I realized that the top row of pads are dead! I pulled off the top of the unit to take a quick look and everything looks to be connectes and nothing looks to be damaged in the slightest.

Has anyone ever heard of this problem? Or a solution for it? Anything else I might want to look at?

PS: I think they pads were dead on arrival. That is I hadn't messed with it enough before now to know for sure, but I am thinking that I haven't done anything here that would have caused this to happen.

You should consider re-reading the sellers advertisment on e-bay. If he happened to mention that the unit is "fully-functional" then your entitled to a refund. If not then you bought a product "as is" and will have to take it to a repair shop. The pads shouldnt be that hard to fix, you will most likely pay a minimum repair price($60).

I wasn't to worried...the company appears to be reputable.

But....I fixed it!

So no worries now.

what was the problem and solution?

when they were installing the ZIP, they might have knocked the ribbon cable that connects to the pads out of place - i did that and almost had a heart attack when my pads wouldn't work

see, that's why I can't buy used equipment. Sure you can get a good deal, but even if you could return it, I would have gone nuts if the unit was malfunctioning right off the bat. That ish would make me want to bash a wall of something.
