Probably due to the fact that PCs were NEVER designed to read MPC formatted hard drives and MPCs were NEVER designed to read PC formatted drives. No where in any Akai documentation is FAT16 or FAT32 HD compatiblity stated. The fact that it partiatially works under certain operation systems (obviously not yours) is really a fluke and never intended.

The information you seek has been asked and answered so many times, I am surprised the information doesn't bonk everyone on the head when sign on to the net.
