Having Big Problems With Mpc Scsi Help Much Appreciated

Ok so last night my zip drive started acting up. I selected scsi five like normal so I could save what I was working on and it just froze. Now when I turn the mpc on I load it from a floppy and when I try to select the Scsi 5 the light on my scsi drive goes on and won't go off and It says disc read error. Even when I return to the main screen the drive still continues to run and the light stay on. I've tried different disc (now i'm worried I've ruined them and lost the material) and the same thing happens everytime. I tried to give it a few hours and restart from the power strip and the same thing happens. it starts fine but once I try to select the drive..... Has anybody had this happen or know what I should do. Do I need a new zip drive? Are all the disc I tried going to be ruined? Sorry that I went on so long i'm just really freaking out about it. Any help is much appreciated

Just go buy a new drive from a popular auction site for $10 and find out.

The cost of finding out whether it is the drive or not should not break your wallet in this case. In fact, anyone that uses Iomega products should already know to keep at least one or two spare drives around given their history of failure.

Nah, that ain't gonna work. That's a USB Zip drive, You'll need to get a SCSI. Hit the auctions, they are cheap. Make sure you get a different cable with the drive and try that as well.

Where can I check auctions? And is their anyplace where I can go and buy one today? I would rather spend the extra dough for peace of mind and to get my sampler up and running

Anybody? It's the weirdest thing it was working fine and then all of a sudden.......

Turn off your MPC and zip, disconect the SCSI, flip the switched on the Zip back and forth a few times and hook it all back up. I know it sounds like a seven-year-old's tactic, but it worked when my Zip drive froze up. If not, eBay it is....
