zip formatting problem

i have a 100mb zip drive. i cant get it to store more than 50mb. i heard that you have to partition the disks into 2 parts (a/b) but i get an error when i try to format it with partitions. anyone know whats up?

I've got a question that relates to this one. I didnt partion my Zip Disk and now it has mad sounds loaded on it. Can I partition it without losing all of the sounds on it?

myman---->no, you cannot......the best way would be to separate everything into folders...thats what I do...I used to do the partitioning hing but it only made it seem like I had less space on disk and my pc couldnt see any of the other partitions past A.......

I wouldnt do the partitioning thing as it'll get in the way of you transferring sounds to and from your pc(windows or at least in my case cant see beyond the first partition on your zip).....anyone who told you to do partitions needs to leave the stuff alone.....just separate everything into folders and call it a wrap....

it can only store a certain number of files per partition, if you don't partition you will be wasting space.

yes. 2kxl. i dont have a zip drive on my pc.

In my experience disk error on a zip usually means to much information to save. As for the partitioning files if you plan to use your zips with a PC I'd take Swiss's advice. Now if that's not the case I would partition my zips. How to get the other 50Mbs just go to the load or save screen and where you see the letter "A" in the device field just go to the A and turn it to the right. This is how you go from partition to partition. With a 100Mb zip you can have as many as 10 partitions (10Mbs each) A-J. Or as few as 1 partition A 100Mb. Hence, there is a downside for some. You can't save programs across partitions, what you can't fit on one partition you shouldn't be spreading out. Unless it's like so then it's alright. Partition A: snd/wavs and pgms/aps. Then in another partition your sequences/beats, All songs and sequences. Bottom line is if you're using 100Mb zips I wouldn't advise using more than 4 partitions, actually 1 partition is best as a frequent beatmaker can fill up a 100Mb zip quick az F**k!

shit!! I have 20 partitions!!!

I have a 60 though, so each partition holds 3 full programs and all sequences with some room to add more seq's if so inclined.
