Capturing that groove

The tempo is ALWAYS on I thought. If you hit record the tempo is runnin whether you like it or not, not being a smartazz but it runs.
I hope I'm making myself clear, another way:
When you record the groove and then hit tap tempo or speed up or slow down the BPM the recorded groove obviously slows down or speeds up accordingly, is there anyway to stop this.
Stop hitting the tap tempo button. That's the only thing I can think of.
I hope that's a bit clearer.
You almost lost me but I was able to keep up. You can try turning off the metronome so maybe the clicking doesn't bug you, but the tempo is still running when you hit record/play.
