Motif es/ MPC .. need a quick fix

My MPC is set as my master and the motif is basically being used as a tone generator. Anyone who has the motif knows that its a beast by itself. So i made a monster track on it. I sample some vocals however into my MPC. The sample plays in perfect timing as i used it in a sequence on the mpc so when i hit the start button on mpc and the motif simutaneously it plays in perfect sync.. How do i set it up the mpc to play when i push play on the motif so i dont have to press start on both machines.. I notice when I hit the motif keys when im working on the motif the samples i created on the mpc plays as well. Thanks

Well first off u need to decide which one u want as your Master. MPC or Motif? Also make sure you have Local Control Off on your Motif and u should be good to go. More info can be given from someone else but Im just dropping what I know.

When i turn local control off on the Motif its plays the samples from the MPC but not the sounds from the Motif so that does me no good.. I generally want the MPC to be the master, but at times i may just want to create things on the MOtif alone such as I did.. I have a song playing on the motif, but I used the MPC to sample my own vocals for a hook being that Im quite familiar with sampling on it..Every thing works fine but i have to hit the start button on both machine..So i guess Right now I want the MPC to be slave, or have the ability to hit start on the motif and the sample i recorded in sequence mode on the moc to play as well..It seems to me that I may not be able to have 2 sequencers running at the same time

Well make sure you have Track 1, 2, ect... set up in the MPC as MIDI tracks that way if u press the keys on the Motif u here a piano, guitar, ect... whatever sound you have and when u press the pads on the MPC u hear the same sounds. Now let me know if that works for you cause when I had the Fantom with the MPC it worked that way. Also hook Motif MIDI OUT to MPC IN and MPC OUT to MOTIT IN. Thats how i did it with my Fantom and MPC.

yeah im on top of all that. Thier not on midi channels thanks alot for the suggestions..Its probably somehting really small im over looking.. When im in the creative mode, i kinda get real sloppy on the technical side. i'll figure it out when i get home today. Thanks

Well if u didnt have the MPC on midi channels then thats your problem.

If i put the mpc on midi channels it wouldnt be able to play the samples that I have on this particular track. i didnt create the sequence on the mpc, i created it on the motif. I have samples on the mpc that I use to coincide with the song. I just dont wanna hear it when them when i press the keys on the motif. Hope this makes sense

sequencing everything in the MPC would make things a lil easier imo but to do what you want to do you have to setup one of the machines to send MMC(midi machine control) and one to receive MMC commands, see both manuals for how to do this

Trust me i totally i agree. I usually sequence on the MPC, but took the motif in the bedroom one night and just started creating. The motif has these templates which allows you to be more creative so thats one advantage of using it, but yeah I wish this production would have been full fledged on the MPC..Thanks for the help as well
