Tempo change when switching sequences

Hello,

I'm putting together a live set using an MPC 2000. On the MPC, when I cange sequences (say, from seq01 to seq02), the sequencer tempo 'jumps' from the tempo of seq01 to the tempo of seq02.

I want to be able to make manual tempo changes throughout the set but if I change the tempo of seq01 then I will lose that change when I switch to seq02.

Is there any way I can get the MPC to stay locked at the same tempo so that, when I cange sequences, instead of using the tempo of the new sequence, the MPC will continue to run at the tempo of the old sequence?

The only way I can think of to do this would be to slave the MPC to another sequencer using MIDI clock but I don't want to drag another sequencer along just for this.

have you considered using the song mode? Using song mode you can set it up exactly how you want it and do your other thang, rap, sang etc; .

I'm trying to build a set I can improvise with and drop tracks in and out of a looped sequence in realtime in the track mute screen so using songs isn't the way for me. I'll be playing alongside another musician so I need to stay in sync with them and we both need to be able to either speed up or slow down the tempo depending on what the crowd wants.

I'll be able to vary the tempo on a sequence to stay in sync with the other musicians but as soon as I go to the next sequence - bang! out of sync again.

I use a Korg ER1 sometimes and, on that machine, when you change patterns, the tempo stays the same. I just want to be able to do the same thing with my MPC when changing sequences.

Good news, this CAN be done.

In the main screen, to the right of the tempo number it says "(SEQ)"

Move your cursor, highlight (SEQ), and turn the data wheel until it says "(MAS)"

Now it will be set to a "master" tempo setting which it will stay at even when switching sequences. You can also increase the setting in real time as you wanted to do.
