this is such a beginner question but it is DRIVING ME CRAZY
i've done this before so i know its possible and its nowhere in the manual
please help

how do i make it so that my mpc 2000xl will have the samples stop playing once i press another pad and trigger another sample?
i dont want that echo effect and i have long samples that just keep playing polyphonically
i dont want that.
i need them to stop.

thanks.

if you just turn them to mono they will only stop playing if you press the same pad

in the window where you choose mono or poly press the open window button, in the new menu you can choose (i think 2 different sounds) to stop
when pressing a pad

To elaborate on what Psi said: Go to the PRAMS screen in the PROGRAM menu. Highlight the NOTE OFF/MONO/POLY and hit open window. There you go, mute away!

You want to play a sample but cut if off with the next pad/sample you play. You can do this, but you have to preset which sample will cutoff the other. You do this by going to parameters>overlap (poly/mono/note off)>open window>fill in the sounds it will cut off

What if I want to have the current sound mute the previous on all pads?
I want to make a monophonic bass program.
