Question about midi dump

I've got an old roland xp-30 that I don't use anymore only because I can't figure out how to dump all of the data into a file on my MPC. I love this synth and I'm trying to figure out if there is some way that I could save it's settings electronically (I hate writing down programs #s and effects settings). It's like when I was making tracks with it, I couldn't really save my work. That is very frustrating. If I can solve this problem, I'm gonna get rid of my triton le with the quickness (nice board, but it's not for me). So if someone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.

you have to record the data on a sequence in the mpc. I did it with a jv 880 before. Stored all the data of the sounds on an mpc sequence.

OK, but how do you record that data? What exactly did you do? Tell me how to actually record all of the bank changes and effects settings. Also the volume levels of each sound. I want to be able to save my work and when I come back to it, everything pulls up the way it was when I was working on it. I don't think what you're telling me to do is gonna save all of that info. Maybe so, I'm not sure. I just figured that it had something to do with midi dump. And as far as the volume setting, I don't mean changing the velocity level on the MPC. Volume and velocity levels are two different things. BTW, please don't think I'm being arrogant or anything. I'm just trying to show you where I'm coming from. I truly appreciate the help. I need to bump this question up because I have the same situation with my xp-30 and mpc. How do you record data into a sequence?

Read the synth manual for sending program/patch/part data to an external sequencer. Read the MPC section for recording midi data.

There is really nothing to it and I know there are online tutorials for such operations (I even wrote at least one).

having the same problem with the planet phatt..i hate writing downs patches and volume controls as well, it takes away from productivity...i also now have a jv 1080 and im preying that the solution applies for both and i dont have to do 2 seperate operations witheach module..please help.. the manuals dont really give you in depth instructions...i did try reading
