Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

hey guys.
i'm about to build up a network of several instruments. those are a YAMAHA CLP-120 clavinova, a YAMAHA PSR-290 keyboard and the MPC2000XL. i bought 2 midi-cabels and connected both the clavinova and the keyboard with their midi-outs to the midi-ins of the sampler. like it is explained in the manuals of each instrument, i adjusted everything properly (i think) and there's now a signal on the monitor of the sampler but i can't here a sound or record one.
does any of you know, what might be wrong, cause i just can't figure out why it's not working.

thanx for the help!!!

midi cables do not send sound.

Im not sure how you have everything hooked up. But if your MPC is hooked up to your keyboard properly, then you should be able to control the keyboard with the MPC.

But that is it. You can only control it. The sound is still coming from the keyboard. so, make sure the instument you want to hear is pluged in to the speakers (i.e. keyboard audio outs).
