Mpc and Pc

1i read that some people use the Mpc with the Pc.How do you do this?? is it possible make the Mpc work together with music softwares? send files between the equipment.

With XL the only options for transfer to/from PC are floppy and/or ZIP.
You can also load data via SCSI CDROM and/or load/save data via SCSI ZIP.

personally i use my mpc as a master clock for acid and as a slave for work in sonar2xl.

Yeah, I forgot about that cause I don't use it often enough, thanks for reminding me.

no thats cool, i wasnt trying to cut on you or anything. heh. i just figure its a feature of Soundforge not many newcomers might notice nested away as it is.

for me the MPC is primarily a live tool for gigs, as i translate my work from Sonar2XL to it for that purpose.

BUT, more and more im using the MPC in the studio for things its inherently great at. considering the cash sunk into my studio to get a pristine sound i love using the MPC "roughly" to give a less discrete feel to my work.

for example a track i have a great upright bass sample, i sent it across to the mpc and cut it up, then played it back into my PC and recorded that. between the MPC's "sound" characteristics and the pre-amps i used it gave an extra presence and fuzzy feel to the bass and i love that.


oh and im using that slooooow transfer because i put a ZIP in the MPC and havent gotten round to buying a USB zip for my pc's yet (all my money is going on building a new DAW, and relegating this pc to just internet).

Cool man, no blood no foul. I do the ZIP disk transfer thing as well.

I use plugins on my PC to process sounds to get that old analog warmth or any other sound color I need. I don't have outboard gear to do that stuff on so I use ALOT of plugins. I'm pretty handy with Sound Forge myself (patting myself on the back).
